Hull, United Kingdom — A female shop owner was having her morning cuppa when a robber, armed with a seven-inch-blade knife demanded the cash from the till.
“He told me to give him all the money but I was relaxed. I told him I was having a cup of tea. He demanded I put it down and give him the money. She added.
“I said ‘OK’ and picked up the craft knife and waved it at him. I wouldn’t have hurt him but it was enough to scare him. He started shaking and then he ran off.”
At Hull Crown Court, the jury took just a few hours to find Gleeson guilty of attempted robbery and possession of a knife following a trial last week. On Friday, Gleeson was jailed for five years.
The jury had been shown CCTV footage of Gleeson, 35, before the robbery which he admitted was him but denied images of a man running from the scene afterwards were him. The Hull Mail reports.
