Hate Crime: Transgender Man Followed and Shot in Philadelphia


PHILADELPHIA, United States — Police are looking for two suspects in connection with the shooting of a transgender man who was followed after leaving a bar and shot in Philadelphia.

The shooting occurred late Sunday night on Malvern Avenue.

Police say the 21-year-old man had left a bar on 66th Street and Lansdown Avenue when he was approached by a man who fired five times with a handgun.

Initial reports said that the victim was a transgender woman, but Philadelphia police has just confirmed us that the victim identifies as transgender male and prefers the pronouns he/him/his

The victim is in stable condition with a gunshot wound to the hip.
