Anti-KKK “March For Love” takes over North Carolina and trumps turnout for KKK rally

“Right after the elections, the ‘Royal White Knights’ of North Carolina said they were going to have a celebratory parade,” said Rabbi Judith Schindler.

That didn’t fly with dozens of community leaders. Grassroots organization “March for Love” in Charlotte through a celebratory parade of their own. One step at a time, people marched in Uptown to fight back against hate.

“The mothers of three children didn’t want a message of hate to be share with our community,” said Schindler.

“So this is an anti-hate rally.”

With flowers in hand, somewhere in the ballpark of 500 people paid respects to three monuments that exemplified the power of love over hate- the Holocaust, Martin Luther King Jr. and “Mahatma” Gandhi Memorials.

Along the way people like Mona McCallum and Heidi Henderson sparked relationships and bridged the gap between different communities.

“I’m just grateful to be here and experience the compassionate love for people that don’t look like me,” said Mona McCallum of Sacred Souls Community Church.

NC Governor Blames Liberals for HB2

Pat McCrory, far from admitting that the anti-transgender legislation was a big mistake, now blames it on the Democratic Party.

 — Gov. Pat McCrory blamed the anti-lgbt discriminatory legislation known as House Bill 2, or HB2, on Liberals.

During a press conference, he blamed Attorney General Roy Cooper, and Charlotte Mayor, Jennifer Roberts over HB2, saying that he had no choice but to create this legislation, in response to Charlotte passing a pro-LGBT ordinance that required private businesses to allow transgender individuals to use the bathroom of their choice.

During the conference, McCrory said: “The state of North Carolina, the City of Charlotte and especially small businesses were being used as a pawns by Roy Cooper, by the mayor of Charlotte and by the Democratic Party on an issue that was made up purely for political purposes and to raise money,”

“You might need to ask the mayor of Charlotte and Roy Cooper that brought up this question, not the right.”

Then he charged against media, saying: “The media, both the statewide media and the national media, give the clear impression it was the right that created the bathroom rules.”

That may be because a Republican-controlled legislature called themselves back into a special session to pass the law in one day. McCrory, a Republican, signed the measure the same day.

Hurricane Hits and Record Floods NC, Leaves Many Dead, but Governor Pat McCrory keeps Using Public Funds To Discriminate against Transgender Women

NC, United States — As the death toll left by hurricane Matthew raises to 33, with 17 deaths in the state of North Carolina alone, Governor Pat McCrory keeps using public funds to harass, intimidate and push his anti-LGBT agenda further, instead of helping the victims of the hurricane.

Buzzfeed reports that, as Hurricane Matthew approached the coast of North Carolina on Friday, Governor Pat McCrory spent the night on stage, with far-right religious leaders, asking them to support the discriminatory, anti-LGBT legislation known as House Bill 2 or HB2.

While emergency services in North Carolina were overwhelmed, and the death toll raised in the state —inlcuding the fatal shooting of a motorist, who was driving through a flooded area– McCrory was recorded telling the far-right christian audience: “You have five weeks, or four-and-a-half weeks, to speak out in North Carolina.”

“I don’t agree with the concept of redefining gender, let your congregations and your businesses, and everyone else know. Are there people behind this issue or not? We’re going to find out.” He added.

While the governor was using public funds to host a meeting with hateful groups, the citizens of North Carolina were far from happy, and this was not due to any bathroom hysteria.

A Greenville resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “We have no power. The cash is going to be running out. We’ve already got street vendors hawking water, Cokes and cigarettes. Cigarettes are at seven bucks a pack,” they said. “It’s nuts here, and it’s going to get worse.”

Last week, Andrew Bieszad, a writer for the right-wing religious site Shoebat, explained that “Hurricane Matthew had nothing to do with climate change, instead, it’s God’s way of punishing people for hosting an LGBT parade in Florida” in the memory of the 49 victims of the Orlando massacre.”

In spite of Mr. Bieszad’s claims, most of the reported casualties are in the state of North Carolina, one of the very few states in America where religious persecution and discrimination is not only legal, but also encouraged by their current administration.

Charlotte Mayor Jennifer Roberts said Monday morning the city “is not prepared” to discuss repealing the ordinance that led to House Bill 2 at its meeting Monday night.

Legislative leaders had made dropping the Charlotte ordinance a condition for repealing HB2.

The ordinance extended anti-discrimination protection to the LGBT community and would have allowed transgender people to use the bathroom or locker room of their gender identity. The Charlotte Observer Reports.

“We are not prepared to add this item to our agenda this evening, however, we urge the state to take action as soon as possible and encourage continued dialogue with the broader community.” She declared.

By defending this ordinance, Charlotte’s Mayor continues defending LGBT rights in North Carolina’s largest city.

Earlier this year, Governor Pat McCrory passed on a discriminatory legislation that prohibits transgender women to use the restroom matching the gender they identify with and it puts their lives in danger.

Pat McCrory quietly withdrew the lawsuit against the Obama administration in response to the Government asking him how was he going to enforce HB2, a discriminatory legislation that targetted transgender women.

North Carolina’s Governor cited costs of litigation, pointing out that his state is also the defendant in a lawsuit filed against him by the Department of Justice on similar grounds.

Remember when the Department of Justice Earlier this year, the Department Of Justice delcared that HB2 violates the federal Civil Rights Act of 1964, giving him until 6 PM Monday, May 9 to respond that he will ensure the illegal law is not enforced.

In response, McCrory filed a lawsuit against the United States, in which he accused the government of a “baseless and blatant overreach” and continued to defend the discriminatory legislation.

The law prevents cities and counties from passing protections based on sexual and gender orientation. Public schools must require bathrooms or locker rooms be designated for use only by people matching the gender they were assigned at birth.

The ACC rulling follows the lead of the NCAA, which announced on Monday that it would also relocate its championships for 2016-17.

Sports affected by this decisions are:

Women’s soccer

Football

Men’s and women’s swimming and diving

Women’s basketball

Men’s and women’s Tennis

Women’s golf

Men’s golf

baseball

“The ACC Council of Presidents made it clear that the core values of this league are of the utmost importance, and the opposition to any form of discrimination is paramount. Today’s decision is one of principle, and while this decision is the right one, we recognize there will be individuals and communities that are supportive of our values as well as our championship sites that will be negatively affected,” ACC Commissioner John Swofford said in a statement. “Hopefully, there will be opportunities beyond 2016-17 for North Carolina neutral sites to be awarded championships.” USA Today reports
